Biography
ALPAZ is a long-standing UK songwriting collaboration between Jason Flinter and Leiza Alpass, spanning over 20 years and seven studio albums. Jason (guitar) and Leiza (vocals) met in 2003 through a business networking event later to discover that beyond their businesses they had a great connection and passion through their ‘hobby’ of music. Jason started out composing score for film and TV and later developed his song writing skills whilst Leiza was always honing her vocal ability through many a Karaoke evening! They got together to see what would happen and quickly penned a few original songs together and started gigging locally in Bristol.
Our recorded music is often categorised as acoustic singer/songwriter with a splash of folk, pop and rock for good measure. Our live sets are played on acoustic guitar, ukulele, electric bass and harmonising vocals with a sprinkling of percussion on occasions. It is our hope that the music and lyrics lift the spirit so that the listener is left feeling more upbeat and able to deal with any challenges they are facing in a lighter more loving way. Leiza’s lyrics tackle subjects dear to her heart like sustainability, the protection of planet Earth and the vastness of the universe. We have also been known to comment on reality TV, unrequited holiday romances and tsunamis.
In 2024 ALPAZ dramatically doubled in size and welcomed aboard Simon Lyne and Stephen ‘Dig’ Pimbblet to the line up adding a whole new layer of musicality with drum and bass!

ALPAZ unveil “LIGHTFALL” a bold new chapter after 20 years
After more than two decades as a songwriting duo, ALPAZ return with their seventh album LIGHTFALL, a deeply reflective and unexpectedly uplifting exploration of life, loss and what comes next.
Written over three years, the album moves through themes of grief, love, identity and mortality, balancing dark humour with moments of striking emotional clarity. From the restless beginnings of “Doodles On A Page” to the raw acceptance of “I’ll Say Goodbye Now”, the album captures the full spectrum of lived experience. For the first time, ALPAZ expand their sound with the addition of a dedicated rhythm section with Dig Pimbblet and Simon Lyne on bass and drums, bringing new depth and energy to their signature blend of acoustic folk, singer-songwriter intimacy and melodic pop-rock.
LIGHTFALL is more than a musical evolution. It’s a realisation. That time is finite, waiting has a cost and that at some point, you stop worrying about what people think… and start saying what you actually mean. “We didn’t run out of time,” the band reflect, “we just finally started using it.”
The result is an album that doesn’t chase trends or nostalgia but instead offers something rarer; Perspective.
